If the distance to the source (talking person or first speaker line ('zero delay') is larger than 5 to 6 times the distance to the ceiling speakers above a listener the delayed system doesn't work:
The level difference between the source signal (first wave front) and the delayed signal is more than 14 dB and the first wave front is not audible anymore (precedence effect).
