SMPTE 311

The standard SMPTE 311 was established in 1998 by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE).
It defines television camera cables for High-Definition Television to assure clear, reliable transmission of audio, video and camera control data.

The defined cable incorporates:
two tight-buffer, single-mode 10µm optical fibers for video, color-coded in blue and yellow
four 20 AWG or two 16 AWG conductors for power
two 24 AWG conductors for control and sound

The cable is smaller in diameter and lighter in weight than traditional camera.
