Parallel Speakers - the VERY Basics

Probably everybody in this business is familiar with the basics of speaker wiring (parallel or in series). But if, for special purposes, it is necessary to connect several speakers in parallel, what is the entire resistance (impedance)?
Forgotten? Me too!

The current drawn from the amplifier is determined by the total impedance. The amplifier output current flows through all voice coils simultaneously. They work as a current divider. The flow of current in each voice coil is in proportion to their own impedance. The current flow through each voice coil will be the same if all speakers have the same impedance.
